‘LESSONS IN LOVE’
Internationally exhibited conceptual fashion artist Jo Cope has partnered with centrally located YKK Showroom to create a window installation as an official part of London Craft Week 2018.
Jo's ongoing work challenges the future identity of footwear as a vessel and provocateur which has the potential to speak to us through a powerful visual language. The one off opening night performance will explore concepts of love and relationships through dance, bringing to life new metaphorical shoe forms. All of Jo's work pushes the boundaries of the traditional cordwainer craft, where she evolves and extend on the anatomy of the foot. Part of her craft process is to create her own sculptural wooden lasts which become the base to work upon.
All of the shoe works go through months of extensive processes and are executed through personally developed leather stretching and forming methodologies, all of the shoes are both 'wearable' and still life objects, embracing the best of the conceptual and the handcrafted.
We would love you to join us to view Jo's beautiful and visionary work up close and experience the live performance in an intimate space. The live performance is in collaboration with Spanish born choreographer known for his progressive approach to dance practice... expect the unexpected.
